RATING: 4/5 Stars
SERIES SUMMARY: Book One
A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance.
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again...
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception.
He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience.
Reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.
REVIEW:
When I found out that Ali Hazelwood wrote a paranormal romance I RANNNNN to my local bookstore (shout out to Patchouli Joes) Reading Bride catapulted me back into my Twilight era and I loved every freakin' second of it!
As an alt girly, the fact that the main character's name is Misery was just so next level!! She was an extremely relatable character although she's a vampire and I'm a mere mortal. lmao.
In my original review of this book I said "i wish we got more from this world and relationship, i would be sooooo happy if it turned into a series"
WHELP, manifestation is real my friends because the second book in the series was announced this year!! WOOHOO!
The world building was light but super intriguing! I'm a SUCKER for marriage of convenience and I go FERAL AF when it comes to a werewolf and a vampire.
Speaking of werewolf ALPHA, Lowe is the mysterious leader of the pack who just so happens to be scrum-didilly, delicious. (wow rach...just wow)
The smut was juiccyy and yah girl always appreciates that! It definitely scratched the AO3 dirty AF fan fic vibes and I 100% ATE IT UP.
If you're new to reading spice, in my opinion this would be a good book to start with! Although, please be warned that I enjoy some very dark romance as well so if this seems "too smutty" for a beginner, I apologize.
I may just be depraved when it comes to the spicy book scale haha.
Must read, fun paranormal romance that would be PERFECT for your spooky season TBR!
