SYNOPSIS:

All Reia ever wanted was freedom.

Known as a harbinger of bad omens and blamed for Demons eating her family, Reia is shunned by her entire village. When the next offering is due and the monstrous Duskwalker is seen heading their way, her village offers her an impossible choice – be thrown into the prison cells or allow herself to be sacrificed to a faceless monster.

However, he is not what he seems. His skull face and glow eyes are ethereal, and she finds herself unwittingly enchanted by him.

All Orpheus ever wanted was a companion.

Each decade, in exchange for a protection ward from the Demons that terrorise the world, Orpheus takes a human offering to the Veil – the place he lives and the home of Demons. The brief companionship does little to ease his loneliness, and their lives were always, unfortunately, cut short.

He'd thought it was a hopeless endeavor, until he met her. She’s not afraid of him, and his insatiable desire deepens within every moment of her presence.

But will Orpheus be able to convince Reia to stay before she’s lost to him forever?

REVIEW:

A Soul To Keep, hit me in a very unexpected way! I found it through a reddit thread and as soon as I saw the cover, I thought HELL YES!

Although this book is very spicy (which i'm SO here for) it also shows very real issues that many of us face day to day.

Orpheus AND Reia have went through some truly F*cked up stuff and trying to navigate a relationship while also processing trauma is HARD AF!

I love their love because it was never just "sunshine & rainbows" within this book they both have to do the internal healing to let someone in again after being hurt.

Okay, i'm making it sound like this book is all deep and no play, which is absolutely not the truth!

BUT something I really admire when it comes to Opal Reyne as an author is that her characters are NEVER surface level. She has a BEAUTIFUL way of sharing their internal monologue and making her character so DAMN relatable!

The world building in the entire Duskwalker Brides series is INCREDIBLE.

I LOVE the magical system and how much depth we get about how it all started as well as the way that the Duskwalker's gain humanity!! Their story is so interesting to me!

As you get deeper into the series you uncover more of the hidden mysteries that the Duskwalker's have to find out on their own.

The Duskwalker Bride series has 8 books currently and I've read every single one!! I'm OBSESSED with this series and would recommend it to anyone who loves smut and paranormal romance!!!
